ABOUT THE COURSE

A strategic plan for development is critically important and essential for all charities who depend on gifts from private sources to fund all they do. It is the roadmap for steady progress and growth.

Most nonprofit organizations have a strategic plan for their organization. However, very few have a strategic plan for their development (fundraising) department. This may be because they simply do not know how to create one. They may not have anyone on staff with the expertise and experience to do so. Moreover, they may not even know where to look to find a qualified, credentialed third party to create a strategic plan for them.

A comprehensive strategic plan, one tailored to the needs of the organization, is critical to its success. It plans and guides every facet of the development effort and will surely result in significantly increased giving to the organization.

The Development Fundamentals and Strategic Planning course is a complete tutorial designed to help nonprofit organizations from small to large build and grow their development programs, increase giving from private sources and ultimately expand all they do for those they exist to serve.

This course will guide your nonprofit organization through all the steps needed to create a truly comprehensive strategic plan complete with all the needed policies and procedures, donor contact plans, direct mail strategies, job descriptions for board members, case statement and major gift planning.

Beyond learning the “why” and “how” behind the planning, upon completion of the course all students receive digital files with templates so they can easily take that new knowledge and create tailor-made strategic plans, policies and procedures, job descriptions for board members, case statements and more.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I probably started “my” non-profit like many people start theirs: serving The Lord through service to others. A "Women”s Integrated Recovery Program for Military Sexual Trauma (MST)/PTSD.”  A 90 day residential treatment program for women veterans (25%) who were sexually assaulted while serving and not able to get timely or adequate treatment at the VA.  As a veteran, father of a disabled veteran and deceased daughter who had been sexually assaulted, I believed I knew what the remaining purpose for my life was. However, with no background in fundraising etc., I was able to put all the necessary pieces in place except the funding.  Finally, I was introduced to Alan Pearson and Accelerating Philanthropy and had 10 of my staff attend his seminar, December 2017. Had I had the information he imparted to us this past weekend sooner, I believe we could have been operational already with many lives saved.  We all came away with a clear vision of what we needed to do moving forward.  Alan kept the massive information digestible and interesting for the extended hours we were together. His thorough knowledge of the philanthropy world enlightened us all. I feel we have now found the missing ingredients that will provide for a successful launch. I am grateful for his presentation and look forward to his continued guidance.
